1.30 – 2.15: Who Is This? Council House Tea Room
Workshop for children and young people. Writing about yourself with poet and performer Steve Carroll, whose father was from Co Louth. Steve was adopted as a baby and also has Irish birth parents. His writing deals with identity and place from a personal perspective - more fun than it sounds!

2.15 – 3.15: BlackDrop’s Green Drop [All ages welcome] Council Chamber.Image
In March this year, we mark the bicentennial of the 1807 law abolishing slavery. Given that Patrick, age 16, was first taken to Ireland as a slave, it’s a good time to celebrate our international connections. Michelle ‘Mother’ Hubbard and David ‘Stickman’ Higgins, from BlackDrop poetry group, will perform their own work and talk about their Irish and other cultural connections. Michelle is Irish-Jamaican: her birth mother is from Shillelagh, Co Wicklow. Dave’s roots come from Ballina and Barbados.

3.15 – 4.00: Who Did You Say You Were Again? Council House Tea Room
Workshop for children and young people. Writing about yourself with poet and performer Steve Carroll (See 1.30 info above). Time to explore your sense of Irishness.

4.00 – 4.30: Tell Us Another. Council House Tea Room
More Irish stories & card-making for children, led by Deirdre O’Byrne from Co. Carlow. Free puzzle and quiz sheets, and pictures for children to colour.
